Question list - 1 - 2 The bank, credit union, or store is threatening me with calling the police to have me arrested or taking me to [civil] court. How do I get them off my back? Banks and stores resort to such threats to intimidate you into paying back the money you owe in the least amount of time and at the least expense to them. It does not necessarily mean they will follow through on their threats, particularly if you file a police report (copy to the bank or store), remain in touch with your creditor, and do your best to repay the debt within your means. See Solution Center Menu > Option 3. Occasionally the creditor will ask you to financially perform in ways that are impossible for you, and that's what we're here for. We will review your current financial situation and the circumstances under which you were given cash from a counterfeit draft or allowed to transfer funds received into your account in order to advise one or more solutions and guide your through the solution that is best for you and your financial situation. This could mean a reduction of the debt, a reduction of the monthly repay amount, or complete debt forgiveness (under rare and specific circumstances). The bank has reported me to ChexSystems and now I can't open an account anywhere. What can I do? (a) Open an account at a credit union and have your automatic deposits sent to your new credit union account. (b) If you have automatic payroll or other deposits think about an Account Now card. Account Now is FDIC insured and reports your good payment history to the credit bureaus. They are FDIC insured, do not rely on ChexSystems reports or other credit reports, accept automatic deposits, and have online bill pay.
