HOW TO WRITE AN EFFECTIVE FRAUD REPORT:

GETTING RECEIPTS FOR YOUR DOCUMENTATION

<< Step #5 Who To Call                                                     Step #8 Writing the Narrative >>

DON'T LET ALL YOUR HARD WORK GET LOST IN THE SHUFFLE:

RECEIPTS FOR YOUR DOCUMENTATION WILL SAVE YOU HEADACHES LATER ON

6.  GETTING RECEIPTS: WHAT TO DO

>  Explain that your originals are for safekeeping purposes and you cannot risk losing them.

>  If the authorities still insist, tell them that you are going to want a receipt for each individual item in the ORIGINALS envelope.

>  You will hand over your ORIGINALS envelope to the authorities ONLY AFTER the originals have been receipted by the receiving officer or agent.  NEVER, EVER hand over originals without a receipt for each piece of paper!

>  Print your name, address, and telephone number on the front of the ORIGINALS envelope.

>  Make a copy of your Items of Proof List.  This is your RECEIPT.

>  At the bottom of the receipt, add in "Names and Contacts List", "Chain of Events List."

>  Ask the officer or agent to put his name, badge number, phone number, date, and signature (in that order) at the top of the receipt.

>  As the agent or officer pulls each Item of Proof and List from the ORIGINALS envelope, have him put his initial next to the same item or list on the Receipt.

>  Place the receipt in safekeeping, preferably in a safe deposit box.
